Concrete is a very durable building material made from a unique mixture of cement, gravel/crushed stone, sand and water. That mixture hardens through a chemical reaction into a strong composite. Concrete is often confused with cement, though cement is only one ingredient in the concrete mixture. Its only after adding water, sand, and aggregate mixed into the cement that it then creates the workable paste known as concrete. Properties can be modified with admixtures making different strength grades available depending on the current application.
